Default Surface clutter Lowrance

LMX15 with tilted element ducer. The unit reads great bottom at all speeds but I have two issues.
1- there is always a lot of stuff at the top of the screen. Maybe Ill take a photo and post that.

2- I have to re-enter all my menu options on power up. The thing goes to time and date page, starts at full scale (shows all N America) and the screen overlay info must be re-entered. When your child flips the electronics breaker a few times every outing it gets frustrating.

Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like the transducer may have a somewhat high "Q-rating". (Lower is better.) "Q" is an indication of amount of residual transducer "ringing" after the intended acoustic pulse. That ringing interferes with the returning echo near the surface and results in surface clutter on your sonar screen. Your F/F probably has a sonar setup menu page that will allow the user to reduce the surface clutter ( & real targets) seen on the screen.

?You could try mittens on your child or make a plexi cover for the breaker panel?

Call Lowrance tech for advice on the startup glitch. You shouldn't have to re-enter options each time. Sounds like a dead internal memory backup battery needing replacement.
