I haven't installed any 15"'s but have the 12"'s.Nice MF displays. The clarity and crispnessof the displays is amazing as is the touch functionality. Haven't seen any scratching of the display faces ... one of my clients could break an anvil and so far his two 5212's have withstood the carnage.

Birdman, I have played with a 5215 for the better part of today (aside from putting out a small fire ), take a magnifying glass and go play with the 5212, they are identical in function and screen brightness. It is one big beautiful display!

I will also add; the 5212 is not bracket mountable, only flush mount for this one. It ships just like the 4210 with a complete nmea2000 network, nmea2000 gps antenna and three mounting styles for the antenna, see this link: http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/t...193058&posts=1

Units are shipping with the latest software version 3.10 so no need for an update anytime soon.

jim,

I just got a 4210 from you guys a couple weeks ago. I fired it up on the bench to make sure it worked while I wait form my boat to arrive to the dealer, and noticed mine says software v. 3.0.

Is that the latest on the 4200 series? I Dont have a SD port on my PC to d/l an update, so do you have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Also about the unit. keep in mind it was just used on my bench, but this thing is very user friendly, and the gps worked great. The NMEA 2000 connections are going to make this thing a breeze to install and network...
Direct RJ-45 connection to the radar, no splicing to anything, except adding the VHF to the plotter thru the old 0183 wires.
Theres also other expansion ports on the back, so no need for a netwoek expander...

No .... v3.10 is the latest.

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/downloadsDetails.jsp?id=3917&product=010-00690-01&cID=148&pID=11187

You've got two choices ......

1. By an external sd card reader or

2. Garmin will send you an sd card with the change on it.

I strongly suggest option 1.
