The best you can get for less than $1000 is Lowrance LCX-27C. 7" screen, good fishfinder, NMEA 2000 and now also support for Navionics Platinum charts.

The budget version would be LMS-525C DF which has the same functionality, but with a 5" screen and lower output power for the fishfinder.

I just got a garmin 545s with a Chesapeake card. They have a $200 rebate on those now when you buy both together. After rebate, total is $1100.

Thanks for the info's. No Lowrance for me, had only trouble with it. I have right now the garmin 440,but with a split screen the details getting small. How about two units, GPS and Chartplotter. Looking at the Raymarine line.

I have found that Turtlemarine.com has the best price on the Garmin 540S with Saltwater transducer and G2 Inland lakes card.
$599 for the 540S with Transducer and $89 for the G2 Card
