Default Accurate soundings at speed

Hi All,

I just installed a new Raymarine C-120 on my boat (24' Center Console) with a DSM-300, unfortunately I was told a thru hull was not possible so I went with a 600 watt transom mount transducer, its a Raymarine E66054 Dual Frequency Transom mount ducer.

I found that at speeds over about 15 knots it doesnt read the bottom and the depth just blinks. Shouldnt I expect accurate readings at cruise speed?

It sounds like the ducer is not in clean water at speed. You will have to keep trying different postions until you get the readings at speed. I do have a trans mount ducer and it took a few tries to get it in the "right" spot.

Good Luck, the instruction manual may have some suggestions as well.

Yup! Mine works up to 44mph! You definetly don't have the xducer adjusted correctly on the transome. Make sure its 1/4" below the hull. The hard part is getting it just right. If the left side is not at or barely below the transome, your not down far enough. (assuming u mounted it to your starboard side stern) If you mounted it flush and your not straight up and down, you need to move parallel to the ground. Take a pic and post if your not sure...

You have to make sure it ismounted correctly. Transome ducers are very finicky about where it is, andwhat angle it is.

Show a us pic of the transducer on your boat and we will give you endless amount of criticism.
