Default garmin 5212 to Simrad a20

Yes...searched and read some good threads. Great affirmation for what i expected. I'll be down to the boat tomorrow and setup the Nmea cables as folllows:
white (Transmit) A+
Orange/white (transmit) b-
gray (receive) A+
ping (recieve) b-

What I DON'T know till tomorrow is the junction box used for my 2001 Simrad AP20 autopilot.
In fact...not even sure if it's under the helm, or down under the sink in the galley... (hope not).

So...i get the sentence structure and versioning of the nmea 0183, but wanted to see if anyone else had experience/luck in getting a 7 year old Simrad AP to listen/talk to a newer garmin device.
I'm hoping to make this work to repurpose the heading sensor for Marpa target acquisition as well as the obvious want to have the GPS tell the Autopilot where to go next.

Anyone have any insight here? Thanks!!!
