What does it come with? If you buy just the unit, you may want to add a black box GSD22 (for sounder), GMR 10 Port expander, GDL 30A for Satallite weather/radio. Those items are expensive if you purchase them seperately. There is a bundle which includes all those items for less than $2,300. Also, you should look at the 4210 bundle for just a couple hundred more.

If you are just going to use the 3210 for GPS, then $1,495 is an ok price. I just did a quick google search and found it for $1,475 new.

Talk to Jim at BOE about your needs and he can get you what will work for you at a great price.

Thanks for the info! I already have a nav net radar with GPS and Sounder, I want this for a back up. Maybe I will add a sounder. Not sure yet. I will get a quote from Jim at BOE as well.

It appears to me that the 3000/3200 series is an "old" design that's being replaced with the 4000/4200 and 5000/5200 series. I would be wary of buying and installing something that's on its way out.

Perhaps someone "in the know" can provide some better information.

It is older, but certainly usable. Garmin is still making and supporting the 3xxx series, so there isn't a problem there. Where the new series really shines is compatibility with NMEA 2k and engine mgt display abilities. Past that, for a GPS / Sounder they are still solid units.

As for the price, I'm not really sure, but for a used unit only that sounds a bit high, but I have seen them go for that on Ebay.

That is a pretty poor judgement call there rwidman. Every unit out is eventually going to be replaced with another unit. That concept does'nt make the 3000 series "old" or on there way out.

49er...If you are looking for just a backup unit, getfeetwet.com also has a 2206 w/gsd 20 refurb w/ 3yr warranty for $750 and 3205 refurb for $675 or 2206 for $660. Maybe the smaller unit is an option? They also have the 540 for way cheap.

Wow, those are good deals. I am going to check it out. I need a back up for GPS Color with a good sounder. I would like a 10 inch screen. My budget is under a 1k if possible. Witch one of these would work best for me?

If your going to use it as a back up sounder also. I would opt for the 30xx or 32xx because they are both compatible with the gsd 22. The older units like the 20xx all used the gsd 20 which sucks. Its updates slowly and its not very powerful.

The GSD 22 is a better sounder than the GSD 20. The 2206 should support the GSD 22 and also the GSD 21 which is also better than the GSD 20. The 2xxx series will not support radar or xm sat. Getting into a 10" screen and sounder under $1k is going to be the trick. As a back up unit, I would opt for the 540 w/ GSD 21 for $540. Just add ducer. This seems like the best deal to me.

Im not sure I'd buy on Ebay. Theres verbage in my Garmin warranty paperwork that clearly states they do not offer the warranty on "auction items" .

THese units are on clearance from West MArine for $1495 here in Ct.
My buddy bought this set when they first came out, including radar, sounder, ect. Total package was approaching 6K.....(radar dome added alot if I remember)
THe unit is great, and with the expantion that it allows I think it is hard to beat.

Well, to each, his own.

The 4200 series has a better screen and personally, I like the control setup better. And a few years from now when you go looking for Garmin datacards you may have a problem where the newer models us the industry standard "SD" cards.
