Default Ray C120's keep shutting off

Did a search but didn't find anything specific to my problem so I figured I would go ahead and post the question. Went out today and noticed that my c120's kept cutting off. Boat is fairly new and this has never happened before. The first time early in the morning they cut off while running so I powered them back up and they did fine for the better part of the day at least while I was trolling but then I decided to bottom fish and cut the engines. That is when they starting cutting off by themselves. The fishfinder kept loosing the connection with the DSM 300 and then both would cut off. Also, everytime I hit any kind of switch they would both go very dim. I would turn the engines back on and they would work fine. This happened several times. Just had my house battery replaced about a month ago so I wouldn't think that was the problem unless something has already drained it ;?
Any ideas as to what to check.

This happened on our last boat with a single C120. The C120 was wired up to one of the starting batteries but the DSM was wired up to one of the house batteries and house batteries were not charging off of the starting batteries when the engines were running. The depth would keep going to dashes and not read and the red light on the DSM would lite up. We ran a jumper wire from a starting battery to the battery that the DSM was connected to and this solved the problem.

Just something to try first, but hopefully this is the case.

Sounds like your batteries are not charged fully or you could have corrosion on your connections. Turn on all the accessories then check the voltage at the C120 this should give you an indication . Make sure all of your connections are tight and protected ( no wing nuts on your batteries). If you do not have a three stage charger charging your batteries on down time then you should invest in one. 2 c120 are probably pulling and 16~18 amps plus radar and all of the other toys.

Good luck

Since the problem is most likely a voltage issue, don't neglect to suspect the feeder wires ( pos. and neg.) to the electronics, are they of sufficient gage for the length to prevent a voltage drop.

2 weeks my buddy bought a used boat that came with a C120, it was cutting off also. I would seem to cut off more when you press buttons. We updated the firmware and now all is well. Is your firmware current?

I had the same problem and it disappeared when I got group 27 batteries. The 24s with the 120 hooked to them were not enough. The 120 needs a good battery.
