Default Garmin GPSMAP 4200 Series and fuel flow data via Suzuki EP-20/NMEA 2000?

Hello all,

I am about to purchase a new GPS/Chartplotter, I really like the Garmin GPSMAP 4200 Series. Anyone out there able to display NMEA 2000 engine functions via EP-20? I am most interested in knowing whether or not GPSMAP 4200 has fuel flow or mpg as a gauge option once the Suzuki Engine Interface (EP-20) is connected.

Thanks a bunch,

Mark

I have an LMF-400 and the EP-20, and also tied in to my garmin 4212.

As far as I know, you'll need to have the lowrance (or suzuki) gauge as well, at the very least you'll need it to configure the EP-20 and I suspect it is the gauge that repeats the data but I could be wrong. You CAN plug the garmin in to the network (LEI Extras sells the appropriate harness) but I was a bit disappointed with the data display. When switching to "gauge" mode only about 1/3 of the "gauges" worked, since there was no data for the others.

I don't think my garmin will display fuel flow or MPG but there might have been a software update for that? Where's BWP?

Thanks for the reply. The 4212 is exactly what I am after, glad you found this thread. I will probably add a pair of LMF-200's since I have 2 small blank slots to fill on the console.

I noticed the 4212 has a good bit of updates for NMEA 2000 and fuel data. Check out this link, is your SW level current?

Just a quick update, digital engine gauges are working on the 4212. Shows mpg's for each motor and the total mpg for the vessel. I had to configure the motors with LMF-200's. No way to configure the EP-20's with the GPSMAP 4212 alone...

I just installed the lowrance lmf200 with the EP60R fuel flow sensor. I have a garmin 4212 but can't find the fuel flow data gauges on the Garmin. I know the network is set up correctly because on the lmf200 I can see fuel flow as well as water temp and speed readings from the Garmin. Also when I look for the nmea2000 devices on the Garmin the Ep60r and the lmf200 show up. I remember seeing a thread that showed the gauges on the Garmin4212, but I can't find the thread. Anyone know how to find the fuel flow gauges on the 4212??

information tab on the 4212 should get you in the right area for fuel flow and so forth if I remember reading correctly.

Mine was working well until I downloaded the new software. Now I can't see the option in information where all the data of the engine and fuel flow was kept. However, when I'm in navigation mode I can check the vessel consumption still and it's accurate. I currently have the following electronics.

garmin 4010, gsd 22, lmf-400, (2) EP-60R, (2) EP-20.
