Default Grounding Electronics

Hey fellas,I'm going to be upgrading some electronics on my boat.Is it ok to run a ground wire to a grounding bus, then use that bus to connect all the electronics to.The reason I ask this is because I read a post where the guy was talking about adding a grounding post and I didn't understand what that post was for.

yes you can do that if the grounds are all power grounds (black wires). Just make sure the single supply wire that you run to the bus is large enough to handle all of the current of the components hooked to the bus. In case you have them all on at once.

Chassis ground needs to go to either a grounding plate, or the engines ground lug.
