Default Speakers for New Boat - Not Exterior Speakers

My new pilot house is approaching completion and I am starting to install the electronics and sound system in a couple of weeks.

I have been looking for encased good quality marine speakers that have their own enclosure. The speakers have to be surface mounted and have their own enclosures as the two best spots to mount the speakers are on the walls of the cabin and there is no room to recess mount the speakers . . . I can not cut a hole into the wall to recess the speaker as the wall is only 1" thick.

Any suggestions about where to find some speakers. I have searched the web but have been unsuccessful so far. THANKS in advance.

They make all kinds of waterproof marine and outdoor speakers. Good quality construction and pretty good sound also:

They are sold at all the big marine retailers as well as on-line and mail order houses.

Even though their used on the inside, I would still go with weather proof exterior speakers. Most interior speaker cones are paper...which over time will suck up moisture. Boats by there nature sit around more in damp places than cars. I have Poly Planner also. Boes is better and more expensive.

Another option is to yahoo shopping and type in Outdoor speakers.I know you did not want outdoor speakers ,but some nice stuff will pop up.Some in the 5 to 600$ range. Most with easy to install brackets..Good luck. I got mine today and will install them this weekend.
