Default Garmin bluechart question ????????????

Just installed a 168 gps map. Bought the Bluechart cd and installed most available charts for the St. Lucie, Fl. area. I cannot get any detail for the inlet area no matter what chart or zoom range I am on. I called Garmin (they are always very good) and they suggested i turn the detail all the way up and walked me through the process. Still no detail (depth or contours) for the immeadiate area around and in the inlet.
There is also no detail, just a big blue box, for the fish haven areas, they call it a cartographic area. Anyone else experiencing this?

thanks
Ed

i also don't have any "details" in the fish haven areas off of ft. pierce, on my system.

guess that's just the maps they use for bluecharts. oh well. good luck filling in blanks!

the nice thing is I was able to sit at my computer and fill in the blanks, so to speak, from my charts.

Squid,

I am doing this off a chart so I hope its right, but I am refering to the inlet itself and adjacent areas.

I am going to have to ask a stupid question.

Did you unlock that area. Your post says you installed the bluecharts, but you do not mention getting an unlock. Youir description of the area is similar to what I see and I do not have that area unlocked.

Try this. This is a screenshot off my bluechart running on my PC. Zoom level can be seen at the bottom, US chart number can be seen in the middle. lon/lat is N27 09.987 W80 09.603 wgs84

Another at 800' zoom. Notice that a chart border shows where one ends and another begins.

On my Mpa76, there is a page where you can turn on and off different charts. You may want to review that you have all the charts loaded and turned on with a check mark.

That's not much of a navigable inlet, huh?

Why no sounding for the inlet itself? Is that because of the changing (shoaling) bottom conditions?

Thanks Squid.

I'd guess that answer is that chart 11472c doesn't have them. Do you have the actual charts to compare this to?

From what I understood a while back, the chips have more detail.. not completely sure about that though - could be wrong. What I can tell you is if I put the detail sky high on my 176 and zoom in like that, there usually more than enough detail to make it so I can't figure out what I'm looking at.
