Default PowerBoat Report ?????

Does any one have access to the PowerBoat Report, done back in April I think it was? Would you please post it if you can. I know I would greatly appreciate reading it over and I'm sure a great deal of others would benifit from it as well.

Has Consumer's Report ever done any comparison ratings of Boating/Fishing equipment?

BUT, if you ask me, that publication SUCKS! WAY too expensive for very little quanity, and the little quantity that is there I found to be of even less help. It basically prints common sense things rather than real beef!!

Yeh after my free introductory subscription ran out, I dropped it. Not even close to being worth the money they want.

Your right it is an expensive ,but they are the only honest reports out there. Can you imagine if any of the boating magazines trashed a major boat company,no advertisements after that.So tell me how can they be honest.Just read about sea ray story about delamination problems,i didny see that in boating magazine.

You can argue PowerBoat Reports' methods and conclusions (and some manufacturers do), but they're at least attempting to provide objective, side-by-side test data. Is there any other publication in the marine industry doing that?

They have to be expensive, there is no advertising. I find it useful. They don't pull punches on what they find because they are scared of how their advertisers may react. It is a no frills publication, but it does have good content. FYI, after you pull all the advertisements out of you SWS, how many pages of content do you have...I'll bet about the same or less then powerboat reports. I'd rather have the unbiased publication myself and pay a couple of extra bucks for it.

I agree with and understand what you guys are saying.... BUT, my beef is, it comes out once a month. And, in each months issue, is ussually one or two real product comparisions. For example, they looked at FRS radios, and the rest of the issue was nothing but junk, pictures of other products, two pages of readers letters...

Comon, you telling me they can ONLY look at ONE product a month?? Go down to West Marine, buy each brand of a product, and have a field day on them, how difficult is that?

I may not always agree w/ them but I like the testing and information the produce. They are like the Consumer Reports of the marine industry.

1. Add 100 pages of advertising and call it a magazine.

2. One better educated purchase as a result of their info is worth the price.

Just caught it, Birdamn Boat Reports.
I think the first test should be on the Super FM antenna! guaranteed offshore reception to 100 miles.

Funny david, funny. What's with all the FM antenna questions lately anyway?

Anywho, another thing I noticed about PBR. Not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but we would have a mojor discussion here (like on which oil to use...) and the next issue of PBR would be lookking at Oil brands. I wonder.....??

Don't know about the antennas. I got a good laugh out of one of your responses.

On PBR, hey why not? They must take a look now and then. Maybe a good way to gauge what topics people are really interrested in.

I also subscribe to PBR. I have used many products they have tested and gotten the same excellent results. May have been impossible without their test reports.

And Bird, those readers letters are actually helpful. I think you remember all those people with the older Fichts don't you? I read about some of them BEFORE I bought my current outboard, boy am I glad.

Tuna, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying what they DO test, isn't tested properly....

What I'm saying is, for $50 for 8 or 10 issues (whatever it is?), there should be more than 6 pages of material, don't ya think? Especially when we the reader have written via letters, 3 of those pages!!

I'd just like to see more beef. Hell, I write about more products in one week on this site alone, then they test all year long!!
