I didnt want holes in my transom so I made one of solid epoxy. I Used a plastic tackle holder compartment for the mold, sprayed it with "Pam" and poured 2 layers of epoxy each 1/2" deep 6 hours apart to form one solid piece (I figured 1" deep all at once might produce to much heat), anyhow...I popped out the block, painted it and epoxied it to my transom then screwed my transducer on to it. That was atleast 3 years ago and it has never moved since. Hope this helps, Joe.

I'll never make another one if I have any choice in the matter. Just buy one and cut it. Its ever so much easier.

I installed a thru hull for my 600L and used an Airmar highspeed flaring block. $71 Bethel Marine

Works great.
