Default Furuno 582 power loss

My 582 has been running perfect since buying it a year ago. Yesterday, the screen went blank on two occasions. Not a "I can't see the bottom" blank. More like a "the whole screen blanks" kinda deal. Both times, I hit the power button and it came back on. I check the power cord and it was fastened tightly. Any ideas?

First check your connections and make sure they are secure all the way back to the battery and that there is no corrosion. If that checks out I would remove your batteries and take them down to have them load tested. I would suspect a low battery. If you find a low battery, then you need to continue and find out why you are not charging.

You can also run a diagnostic on the unit. Check your manual.

Same thing happened to me twice last year. The unit would just shut off for no reason yet would come right back on for a while then blank out again. Come to find out, it was a low battery. I changed the battery via a selector switch and the problem was solved. Check your battery voltage. I suspect it is low.
