Default Why does my Garmin power off when...

I have a Garmin 100 Blue fishfinder. It's great! Simple, does what I need for the lil ol boat I have. But why does the Garmin power off when it should just stay on? If it does quit, I hit the power button and it's right back on, but sometime just for a second or two, or for an hour. It seems to do this most when I'm running.

I have the 3205 chart plotter that doing the same thing. My battery is not low either. Other suggesting in this forum, told me to check all wirings, and connection to making sure that the contacts are good. One recommendation is to clean the contact at the plug where it plug into the unit with the electronic contact cleaner. I will replace fuse too to make sure that the fuse does not disconnect the power when it get warm.

I went through this same thing a while back with a gps unit. I ckecked all the connections, monitored the battery voltage with the fish finder. Was convinced it was the gps unit. Garmin said no. They were correct. After checking all the connections and paying close attention to what I was doing, I found a bad connection and repaired it. Trouble is cleared and has not come back.

Glen I think you are right. This weekend, I recheck the wiring and replace the fuse. They are tight. I clean all the plug with the contact claner. I check the voltage and they are good. I have two batteries, It was doing the same thing. Turning itself off. I will contact Garmin see if they are willing to send me a replacement unit. If the unit is doing the same, then it is the Garmin unit.
