Default Garmin 540 question. Trip log

Both my 162 on the old boat and my Etrex HH have a trip log funtion. Miles traveled, average speed, top speed etc. Used this for my log and would reset for the next trip.

I'll be danged if I can find it on the 540.

Played around with the machine. Nada.

Skimmed the manuel. Twice. Nada.

Can't believe it's not in there somewhere.

But I'm one of these old pharts that have trouble with "simpler" electronics with less buttons and have ADD when reading instructions.

Good morning ....... you have to select it from the numbers page. It's either in the GPS or Navigation memu. Here you go ..... that will cost you $1.00.

So what are your first impressions of the 540?

Thanks Tom! Was hoping you'd see this.

Sort of thought it might be imbeded in there but more interested in max speex, distance and those used to be bundled in a nice stand-alone page with a reset feature. I give it a try tomorrow when I get down.

So far I like it tho it does have an occassional refresh "duh".

Saw your update and will get around to doing this in two weeks or so (no SD card). Taking two Air Force officers and one Marine SSgt out for MAD on Sat and then hopping on the ferry Sunday AM to Frisco for a week.

I'm good for the $1.

I'll be at the Captain meeting. Now I owe you $2.

I'll be wearing the purdiest red drum shirt you've ever seen. Guess I'll have to leave the Crocs at home due to CG regs.

As the cliché goes in the Letters to the Editor in the paper, “I read with interest…” your post about the updates. And I was going “yup”, mine’s doing that & glad that’s being addressed.

BTW, I’ve always enjoyed and learned a bunch from your post and especially your pics.

Think of you as a “kinder & gentler” Glen E.

Bernie, BWP has always been very helpful to me as well and his post have already got me looking at the new Garmin units and getting rid of my Furuno. Thanks Tom.

The terminator GlenE .... lol. The truth be known, GlenE does much more behind the scenes to help others than you'll ever know in addition to all that he posts on THT adn Verado Club websites. Thanks for the kind words.
