Default GPS

Help-I have a brand new Garmin 420 GPS. Picture is good, graphics are good, it is easy to use. Only problelm is that at random time intervals it will turn itself off. I punch the power button and it comes back on. All connections seem to be tight. Ideas as to what is my problem? Thanks. Ken Blue

Re- check all your connections. Is it wired direct to the battery or through the fuse panel? Any corrosion to where you have the wires connected? Check the fuse and the fuse holder.
Do you have a good ground?

What version is your software? There is an upgrade available that is supposed to fix that problem, among others. There is a thread about that somewhere on this board.

My 3210 did the same thing. I tightened the lock ring on the cables where they plug in the back of the unit and haven't had any problems since.
