If any one would be willing to share their TR-1 installation experiences and tips it would be greatly appreciated. Pictures would be awesome!

I did my own install and these would be my top 2 tips. Read the manual front to back more than once before you start and then follow these instructions to a T. Lay all the parts (including hoses) out where you think they'll go before you drill any holes.

By the way their customer service is second to none so don't hesitate to call them.

I just wrapped up my first install on a TR-1 autopilot. I was unimpressed with the customer service. I had a simple hydraulic question pertaining to the manifold and their "requirement" that only three ports be used. I started calling the help line at 8AM east coast time. The receptionist was rude and impolite. I received my call back at 8:30PM from the president; he was barely apologetic. What a way to run a company. Anyway, you can use more than three ports in the manifold. Thankfully most of my customers prefer Simrad.

The word on the street is that Garmin has purchased TR1--not sure how this affects customer service--there may be a peroid of transition.
