Default Raymaine c80 vs Garmin 3210

Replacing my electroncs. Narrowed my choices to the Raymarine c80 & Garmin 3210. Been told Raymarine has better sonar (digital) but Garmin's better in chartplotting. I fish excusively on Lake Erie where water doesn't get much deeper than 65 ft. I'm leaning towards the Garmin because of larger digital information on thier various screens and seems easier to use initially. The only hands-on experience I've had with these units is on their simulators in stores. This is my problem. Raymarine's sonar simulator is based on a digital format and is very good. Garmins sonar simulator is in analog and seems very poor to me even though they have a digital sounder(DSM 22) I cannot find any iformation on their digital sounder. Has anyone experienced the 3210 with the DSM 22 digital sounder vs the c80? (I plan on using bronze thru-hull 500wt ducer on which ever unit I buy) I appreciate any advice and help. Thanks

raymarine chart plotter i think is way better, and as far as radar ray is far better. rays fishfinder can not be beat. I think furuno has the best radar on the market, but if you are looking for all in one ray is the way to go. Do yourself a favor and get e80 you will like the 3-d so much better and you can network the units if you want to expand.

Ray over garmin hands down if fishfinder is important. Ray is very easy to use IMO... I think that the hype about garmin being easier is just that... hype.

I love threads like this because it clearly shows how imperfect our world is. The reality is that no one company is great at everything. Garmin has the tradition of being the easiest to use GPS while Furuno has commercial grade radars and FF and Ray has great FF and radar. If you are looking for a "one size fits all" then pick which compnonent is the most important for you and go with that.

Hey, i was looking at the stats for radars (raymarine vs furuno) both have 1.80 beam with, so i would go with ray on that only becouse its easy to work with. Rays fishfinder is unbeatable! Gps well , ray ,garmine, furuno they all will work. Ray is my choice, however they all get the job done. I can use my hand held and get to were i want to go. I had top of the line furuno radar on my grady white, with northstar gps, and furuno 600l fish finder. I had good equipment i think, but i wanted to try new things. I can tell you from having both that furuno radar is top dog but ray is up there with it. I can track birds with it too. Ray fishfinder is 100 times better than 600l furuno that everyone was bragging about, so i had it and it sucks. Northstar gps was great, i had no problems with that. I love my 2 e- 80s and my e-120. If you fish (hardcore) then get a open array for bird spotting and learn how to operate it. I posted on this site and a couple nice guys showed me how to do it. The same as furuno. Try boe they have some good prices on these things. Dont be cheap or you get cheap results.
