Default Navionics Fish Chip

Has anybody actually ever gotten one of these. I have had my order in for a long time and still no chip. I spoke to several people who never got theirs. What is the trick--is it a trick? Why don't they just include the second chip in the package. They say it is free but it is not free--it is included in the price and why all the smoke and mirrors. Without the chip there is no high detail which is what I thought Navionics claimed they have--high detail--what high detail are they talking about?

All it does is clutter your screen anyway.................I used mine for a few trips and then took it out and filed it somewhere. All it shows is additional contour lines. No additional wrecks or port info................FYI....mine was delivered about 2 weeks after I applied for it...............

Took me about six weeks to receive mine, called them once, three days later the chip was here. I mostly use it on my PC to find shallow spots or ridges in areas I haven't been before. mark them as waypoints and use my gold chip on the boat.

why they call it "fishing chip" is beyond me, like offshorebri said, "no additional info" I think they took all the info out of it (tide stations, ports etc.) and put just contour lines in, which is good if you do a lot of off shore fishing I guess (and have a big screen).

Some of the maps in Florida show only Fathoms, gets kind of confusing when half the maps show feet and some of them show fathoms and feet in the same screen.

Maybe its just me but, it was fun to look at for a while, I think it's been in my neighbors boat since December, don't miss it much.

It takes abouta month to come in. The chip is not really worth it inshore but if you fish offshore, you are going to want it.

Here is the Norfolk Canyon with just the gold card.

And here is the Norfolk Canyon with Fish n Chips. You will want this offshore.

Well, I guess I owe an apology, it came in the mail today. It took a little while but here it is in my hand. Apologies to Navionics, I still think they could just put both chips togehter in the package and save time, money and frustration.

I got mine right away and use it offshore here in Washington state. It supplies me with many fish. I don't leave the dock without it.

With a CF card reader and Raymarine Raytech or Navplanner software, you can display the charts on your computer and do waypoint and route planning.
