Default Bluewater 2350 with a Thru Hull

I'm tired of dealing with the transom mount unit on my 2350, it's been giving me fits since day one by popping free whenever it gets really rough out so I'm going with a thru hull. Has anyone here installed one on a Bluewater and if so how have the results been, did you have any problems and what location did you use in the bilge. The local dealer is trying to steer me away from a thru hull and install an M260 shoot thru but I really don't see the benefits of it especially considering the extra price and the fact that I still need a transducer hanging off the back of the boat for speed and temp. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I had a 1000w through hull airmar 256 on my bluewater 2350. There weren't any problems with it. If it were me, I'd forget the dealer and install one of those 1000w tilted element flush mount through hulls. Very easy DIY.
