Default Lowrance 480m

Just bought a used boat and it came with a lowrance 480m model. Are they a decent GPS/Fish finder? I'm very familiar with Garmin. Is lowrance comprable to garmin?
Thanks cfish2

The lowrance 480m is a single transducer (200) model which can be transformed into the DF by adding a dual transducer (200/50) which would then get you down well below 1000 meters. It's an excellent unit with very good screen resolution and functionality. If you go on the Lowrance site, you can download the manual free.

It's a better fishfinder than most Garmins. The 200kHz trancducer is good for shallow water (<100-150'). For deeper water a bronze dual frequency trancducer would be a better choice. For medium depths the Lowrance tranom mount dual freequency will also do the job.
