Default Furuno FCV585 vs Raymarine DS600X

Looking to to replace old JRC FF50 with new unit. Looking at the Furuno FCV585 and Raymarine DS600x. Is one better than other? Appreciate thoughts pro or con on these two units.

From what I have seen, proformance is about the same, so I'd go with the bigger screen (585)

I had a DS 500installed on my Whaler for three yearsandcahnge to aFuruno FCV 620 the smaller cousin of the FCV 585 about a year ago. I changed not because I was unhappy with the DS 500 but because I had heard so many good things about Furuno. Here are my observations.

The Raymarines DS series display is brighter & crsiper and the data window is transparent so you can see the water columnpicture behind the data info.

The Furunos FCV series strongest suite is the manual control capability (i.e.rotary knobs -vs- buttons).

I've used both units in the same conditions and would recommend either. Bottomline: You can't go wrong with either unit.

I have the FVC620 and love it also... My buddy has the DS500... really nice unit, but it broke and he had to send it in for repair and was out a unit for almost three weeks.

I have the DSX600. The screen is very bright and crisp. I can see it in direct sun without a problem. So far no complaints.

I have the 600dx and it's now been on two boats. Right now it's external on the aft bulkhead. Great performance....going on two years. Here are some performance pics...

I REALLY like the 585....mine with Airmar B60 thru-hull. The only time it loses bottom is if I back up hard (bubbles I think) or get airborne.
