Default 2 amps- what kinda battery config?

I currently have the clarion 4 channel amp and a group 24 battery. I tend to anchor and listen to the radio on Sundays. Last year the setup I had worked decent, I just had to keep an eye on the battery and run my motor every once and a while. I'm charging my battery with a F150. I have a 2 battery system but keep one strickly for emergencies. I just ordered a Cabela's AGM group 27, I figured that would hold up a lot better than the group 24 battery. MY question is I'm thinking of adding another 2ch clarion amp. Would the group 27 hold up well or do I need to add a third battery? Whatever I do I would like to keep one battery for just in case.

I was thinking of wiring the 2 group 24's I'll have in parallel and run the 2ch amp off of those, but that way I will not have a emergency battery. I would like to stay away from a three batter setup if at all possible.

it wont draw that much amperage, if your current setup is working fine, i dont see the need for a 3rd battery.

If you set up your boat so that one battery is used strictly for starting, you'll never have to worry. Put a battery combiner to the second battery and the charging duties will be automatic.

I'd be surprised if the average draw for your stereo was over 2 amps. It should easily last all day on a good battery.

With just the 4 channel amp, listening at high volumes, it would last about 1.5 to 2 hours. But I never topped my batteries off with a charger last summer, that was with the motor charging them only.

2 batts will work fine - the techs at blue seas taught me a trick they do on big go fasts all the time. Wire an ACR INLINE on the power lead from the amp to the batt. Set the acr for 12.2 or so. When the batt gets to 12.2, the amps will shut off and you'll know you better start an engine to get some charging going.

I now have the cabela's agm group 27 battery and have listened to my system with the one 4 ch. clarion amp for 3 hours with no problems. Now its time to add 2 more speakers to the system. They will be 6 x 9's. I was thinking of getting the 2ch clarion amp for the 2 new speakers and that would cover my needs for now, but I started thinking. Would the battery handle 2 4ch amps? That way I would have two channels left if I would decide to put a subwoofer. I saw in another post where SWL put this huge system in a boat and ran it off of two group 27 agm's. What do you guys think?

I have a pyle 2 channel and a 4 channel running. I use a seperate group 27 pure deepcycle. I set up an automatic charging system using an automatic relay...well...at first, I did not install it correctly (used wrong voltage source for sense wire), and needless to say, my deep cycle did not charge.

We went 3 days before the radio started to cut out.

Conclusion:

1 2 channel pyle running 2 6.5 infinity's
+
1 4 channel pyle running 4 6x9 infinity's
=
3 days before battery died.

Battery is a "cheap" sam's club marine deep cycle group 27. It is not a combo battery that can be used for starting...Starting with a real deep cycle can cause damage to it, while slow discharges and recharges of a starting battery will damage it...Also true deep cycle batteries do not take a charge very fast, which is good because it does not put a heavy load on the alternator.

I agree with kchance, two isolated systems.
I am even considering running my lights from the deep cycle for those long summer nights on the river.
