Default Lowrance Map Create

Anyone ever use this? There is a new version (7) coming out in April. There are older versions available and was wondering how well they work.

I have map create 6.3. It is not the topo version. It gives pretty basic maps and will show some wrecks and obbstructions in coastal waters. The Nautic path chips are better than map create maps and navionics maps are better still.

I have a Navionics chip already and its very well detailed. What I am looking for is to be able to sit at my computer and look at a map for my area and to be able to plot courses and waypoints. The be able to load them in to my GPS. Is this what Map Creat is used for?

No. I think you need Navionics navplanner to see your navionics maps.

I think we are misunderstanding eachother. I am not looking to actually create a map. I want to set up waypoints and create routes for my area on my computer, load them on to an MMC card, then transfer that info into my GPS. Then put my Navonics card back in and be able to see my waypoints and routes. I can go out to the boat right now and do it right on the GPS but it takes time and its hot out.

You can do that with the NavPlanner. The software lets you see the navionics detail which to me is important when plotting a trolling coarse or something. Then remove the navionics chip and load that coarse into another MMC card to be moved to your unit. The MapCreate is basic at best, the NavPlaner is a much better program with features I havent gotten to yet.

That would be great, thanks James. I'll have to find some time to make a trip over to your house, you live sooooo far from me.

You can make trails with map create that you can follow. But you won't see the detail in the maps that you will see on your chart plotter. So if you just want to make a trail to get from point A to point B, yes map create will work. But if you want to set up a trolling path to run along some ridge or hump, no map create probably won't provide the necessary detail.
