Default New electronics-thanks SWFLelectronics

Thanks to Mike at SW Florida Electronics I am almost done with my install.

This is my second Contender and I have always hated their console accommodations. Their fiberglass insert does not allow enough room for decent sized electronics in its normal configuration. Even worse are those damn Lexan doors that they use. I have almost beheaded myself a few times coming off a decent wave.

The time had come to replace and resolve those problems. Mike at SWFl Navigation was very patient with me. I knew what I wanted and he made it happen, including the fabrication of the Starboard panel.

I had three Furuno units (1650GPS , 600L sounder, and a 1712 radar. I am replacing them with the Furuno 585, Clarion CMD5, Icom 422, and am waiting "patiently" waiting on the Garmin 4212. I have pre installed the Garmin XM weather/radio module and antenna along with the Garmin GPS antenna so that when the 4212 arrives all I have to do is cut the hole and connect the wires. I did not want to be running wires through the t-top in the midst of fishing season b/c no one knows when the 4212 will be released. With the CMD5 I have Sirius radio because I currently have Sirius, but after introduction Clarion announced that the CMD5 will accept either XM/or Sirius. I kept it because I am familiar with them, but may change over later. Until the big screen come in I will mount a tiny hand held Garmin unit. I hope it arrives sooner than later.

A radar will probably come next year, because to get the wire through the top may require me removing other stuff to fit it through.

Below are a few before and after pictures.
