Garmin 498 and VHF DSC

Default Garmin 498 and VHF DSC


If I purchase a mid/high end VHF with dual DSC will it work with a Garmin 498?

I cannot see this feature on the Garmin website and I know I can get my answer here.

The answer to your question is yes. The 498 will send and receive information from a VHF radio with NMEA inputs and outputs. The position reporting which a lot of us use is described on page 22 of the 498's manual. The wiring for it is on page 92.
