Default Fishfinder for salmon and trout trolling

I plan to buy a new fishfinder for salmon and trout trolling. I fish from the surface and down to 100 feet, most of the time from 0 to 15 feet.

Today I have a Lowrance LCX-15MT with 200kHz skimmer transducer. I'm happy with the unit except when it comes to the amout of surface clutter, but would also like to go color.

The units I currently evaluate as fishfinder are Furuno FCV-620, Raymarine DS500X or Lowrance LCX-27C. I plan to have seperate units for fishfinder and chartplotter. Since I also plan to buy a radar and would like to be able to display motor data from my Suzuki, this unit will most probably be a LCX-27C. This will also give me a backup fishfinder. The cost for me will for all tree units be in the same range. Will buy Furuno and Raymarine in Europe where I live and the Lowrance from an US webshop.

When it comes to the fishfinder the LCX-27C will have the same performance as my current unit, except the colors. What I'm wondering about is what the digital technology used by FCV-620 and DS500X will give me of increasd fishfinding capabilites, espescially close to the surface. Where I'm fishing the shoals of fish, the trout and salmon are feeding on, rise in the water coloumn during the evening and around midnight they disappear into the surface clutter at my fishfinder. In the morning the fish shoals will reappear on my screen. The DSP technology will hopefully remove most of the surface clutter without removing the targets in that region and therby improving my night fishing.

I guess the conclusion is that I should go digital but then the question is, which of the two units should I go for? The advantage of FCV-620 is a sligtly larger screen, simpler user interface and shorter minimum pulse width and higher pulse repetition rate. The higher pulse repetition rate should according to theory give better shallow water performance, but it would be nice to have some feedback from someone with hands on experience for this. According to information at this forum the screen of the DS500 is brighter.
