Default Combiner or Yamaha charge lead?

Just wondering if there is an advantage to installing a combiner like a Blue Seas 7610 versus buying the secondary charging lead for my 200HPDI.

Any opinions?

None that I can see EXCEPT a combiner will also allow charging combined if one if hooked hooked to a shore charger....

Default Re: Combiner or Yamaha charge lead?

Is the Yamaha anything like the Mercury optional charging lead? If so, there is one disadvantage. The optional charging lead has one-half of the output that the two leads have when they are combined.

My Merc has a generator with a nominal output of 40 amps in its original configuration. If I install the optional charger lead then I have two leads but each only has 20 amps output.

What does this mean? If I use the optional charging lead then the house battery can only receive 20 amps maximum. If I use a combiner that is connected to both leads at the same time (the original configuration) then I have up to 40 amps of current available to charge the house battery.

Around here

I would go with the aux charging lead from the engine. The ACR is great for motors that don't have the aux lead

If you only have a 1 bank batt charger, Glen makes a good point.
