Default Self- Coiling Hose Question!!

I have a raw water washdown on my new boat. I was looking at the storage units they sell for them and they are rediculously exspensive. Has anyone made one from 4 inch pvc pipe? Just curious, seems like it should work.

I just spear the coil with a boat hook and mount it in the under gunnel rod storage holders...

My washdown outlet is at the outside rear of my boat; I keep a 5 gallon tub there, resting in a hollow produced by the motor box (I/O). So, I keep the hose in the bucket with a cutting board on top (there's a groove that matches the top of the bucket, so it stays put). I also keep a can of butane for my Kenyon stove there rather than in the cabin so a leak won't stay in a confined space.
