Default playing with the Clarion ipod interface unit

hooked one up to my CMD5 yesterday and I'm not impressed..you can from the head unit change artists, playlists, songs and genres but not from the wired remote on the dash, On- the-go playlists are not supported at all, which are a big thing for me. I am returning the unit. By the way if you have one of the old oval wired remotes, the new circular one (CMRC-1) is way bigger - requires a 3 inch hole and has no new features...so that's going back too......I'll stick with the Ipod mounted to the dash with 3M dual lock and using the AUX function on the CMD5....

This is probalby a good deal for someone who has the head unit mounted on his dash and needs the power charging capability of the interface. A mistake would be to forget about the ipod and always leave it on the boat, I'm sure they will corrode faster if stuffed somewhere and never taken off the boat. Bt having to charge mine at night, I'm insured it has to come with me and not subject to the salt air in storage.

Gle,
Does it allow me to select music by Artist, albumn, or song just like the IPOD and display the names on the CMD5 screen? I dont have a wired remote so that is not an issue for me.

each of the 1 -6 buttons becomes a way to get to playlists, album, artist, song, genre, etc...best bet to find a song is choose album...and scroll from there...

i have the same clarion stereo as you and wanting to hook up an ipod.
what do you mean by "on-the-go" play lists?? what is that?
I've got a ton of music to download onto an ipod (when i get it) in addition to listening to sirius satellite channels. FM reception sux @ 30 miles offshore. I was thinking about the interface unit too but now you've got me thinking otherwise. If my ipod is on my dash and shows the song, album, playlist... why do i want the interface to do the same thing on the radio???? still learning about this obviously. thanx in advance.

on the go playlist is the ability of the ipod to create a new playlist on the spot by just choosing songs, albums without itunes
