Default Raymarine C Series

I dealer just told me that Raymarine plans an update for the C series that will give it most of the functionality of the E series, including Navionics Platinum compatibility.

Anybody heard anything about this?

I have heard the rumor, but not from good sources- and I don't think it would work very well, if they did do it. The Cseries has a much slower processor, and wouldn't handle the extra info on the platinum charts.

There will be an update to allow the SR-50 sirus weather to work with it, as the sr-100 works with the Eseries.

If you had to purchase in the next 5 weeks a GPS/Sonar outfit, like a Raymarine c80 or c120, what unit would you buy?
Both the gps functionality (easy use) and the sonar accuracy are equally important. Also, what transducer and sonar package would you recommend? Thanks

I would definatly go with the Cseries, which ever I could fit/afford, the DSM300, and the Airmar B60 transducer.

I doubt that the C Series will ever have network or video capability like the E Series, but adding Sirius Weather is a major upgrade and shows RM's committment to existing customers. It will be interesting to see if they can make the Platinum cart work on the C series

Always get the biggest display that will fit your helm

That's just what the factory rep said, get a big display. I'm trending towards the c120 with the options suggested. I have an open CC, where would I best mount the antena?

The transducer, should it be mounted external? BTW, thanks to all for your suggestions, I really appreicate the advice.

On a Small CC a P66 Tranducer is ok. The GPS should go on the T-Top or on top of the dash if you don't have one
