Default clarion cmd5, can the display be dimmed, electronics that support going darken ship

Hi all,
I am researching electronics to install on the new boat and looking for feedback on Clarion cmd5.
Does ANYONE know if you can dim the display on this unit? One of my goals is to be in full control of any and all lighting at the helm area and want to be able to easily select darken ship mode when heading out for night vision reasons.

Also, if anyone has raymarine E series, do those units also have the ability to dim the data on the displays without having to go crazy in to 5 menu pages to get there? I plan on having twin E120's, a clarion cmd5 among a host of other gadgets that I don't have the time to learn to satisfy my ego with the long awaited rig coming in a few months.
Thanks for the assist..big time!
Scott

The e-series is easy, just press power button quickly and rotate rotary knob to desired level or press the pallete soft key that will show up after pressing the power button. I feel the pallete button is still too bright so I use the knob.

Thanks a bunch Glen. A lifelong boater, I am a major admirer of your work and your posts. In short, you are doing a lot of good for the boating neighborhood.
Like so many, I may be adding an ipod as well and look forward to looking up your lessons on doing it right.
Fair winds and following seas my friend.
