Default Furuno FV 585 Wiring Question

Why is there an in line fuse on the hot and neg wires? I have never seen that before...

I would have to assume in case some idiot gets the wires mixed up or someone flashed the neutral bus bar with live power by mistake? ;? On a manufacturing level what's it costing the manufacture, a few cents? The would sure be a lot cheaper then servicing the unit after the fact!

That makes sense. With all the NEMA cables and me being color blind....it was troubling to see two fuses....

Oh, and I got it to work fine. If anyone has any tips on the best settings or initial set up programming, please feel free to chime in....

Set it on auto and go....

untill you loose bottom, then set it on dual and up the gain if you still can't see China.

Just hook it up with red to positive and black to negative. I was told it is to prevent problems with reverse polarity but just leave the black fuse in.
