Default Antenna Repair Advice

I have a Shakespeare whip Antenna, I think a 5240-R. The black cap that screws onto the metal cylinder has cracked. This black cap holds the metal whip. I was thinking of trying to repair with either 5200 or an epoxy that has a stated holding power of 1500 lbs. I was going to apply the adhesive to the threads and screw on the cap, holding in place with duct tape until cured. Any thoughts???. Thanks.

You cannot fix it, they are hermetically sealed. Mine broke and I called Shakespere and told them what happened. The service guy asked how old the antenna was. I told him it was about 1.5 yrs old. He said, no problem, send in the old antenna and I'll have a new one shipped out ASAP. no cost.
