Default Automatic Battery Parallel Switch

Is anyone familiar with an Automatic Battery Parallel Swicth? I would like to have one so that I need not manually press the battery parallel switch on the dash on those times when I need to parallel the batteries to start my diesels. Ideally, it would work whenever I press either start button

You could probably re-wire the current setup to activate with either starter (instead of the manual switch). You are controlling a BAR (big a$$ relay) that is NO (normally open) and closes when activated to parallel the batts

I would recommend against it. If you are having problems with 1 engine/batt, you may affect your ability to start the good engine/batt

A parallel solenoid is only intended for emergency starting. If you are finding that you need to use it all the time, this is an indication that either the batteries are too small or too old.

How often are you in need of parallelling? If you need to do it more than once every blue moon, you have another problem that needs fixing. Find and fix that problem and don't worry about having to automatically parallel.

Hatteras confirmed that the setup on my boat is incorrect. They set it up with only a single 12 volt 8D per engine trying to start each 692 diesel. Hatteras confirms that one 12 volt 8D is too small for this size job. So, I am adding two 12 volt 8D's so that each engine will have two 8D's to crank with. Needless to say, they are rigged in parallel.
