Anyone have one collecting dust in the closet?

Don't waste your time & money. I had one and it only lasted 1 season. The rubber covered control stalk fell apart and water got into the control. After it was pulled from the boat I had some odd shapped holes to cover.

If you don't have stalk problems, you will have clutch problems. Avoid the SportPilot like the plague.

Have you considered the Simrad AP-14R?

Would love to have the Simrad, but just cant justify the cost for the few times a year I will use it. Need to save money for the $4/gallon gas payments.

I had a Sportpilot on my old Boston Whaler 18 and it worked well. I had installed it and used it for 4 or 5 years and never had a problem with it.

Had one for 3 years on a 28' Wellcraft Coastal with zero issues. If correctly installed, it will work as advertised.
