Default garmin 240 or lowrance x-91

is there any noticeable difference between the transom transducers on these units? i own the garmin, and lose the bottom at 10-12 knots and above. i know location is everything but does the x-91 claim of readings up to 70 mph hold up. just bought new boat for south shore and would like to keep the bottom paint scratch free for as long as possible. thanx

I had a Lowrance X-91 and pulled it off of my boat to put a 240 Blue on. The X-91’s transducer is smaller but I did not see any real difference in its ability to hold bottom at speed. Neither one would do it very good. I am sure that if I continued to move it around and adjust it either of them could be made to work but I am in the process of switching to a thru hull transducer for my 240 Blue.

I have the garmin 160. My unit will read up to about 35 mph. I have my transducer mounted about three inches in from the outside edge of the stern. Haven't had a problem with it clonkin out at speed.

I forgot to add this tranducer is basicly the same as the 240 unit just not as powerfull. Perhaps a location change would remedy your problem

i have a Lowrance x91 I am able to get a bottom reading at WOT about 45mph. I think the unit is great. Screen is real good at night. I also think the units processing has something to do with obtaining high speed readings
