Default Too Much Electronics?! Engine wonít Start

So I own a 2005 Regal 3360 with twin Volvo Penta 5.7L V8ís and three batteries. Over the winter I had a Axiom 12, and RV-100 transducer installed.(Third Battery is a fail safe)

Now Iíve actually been having issues starting the motors.

When connected to shore power no problem. But if the axiom is on and Iím starting just off the batteries the engines wonít turn over. Not even with the third engaged.

Could it really be possible that the axiom and transducer are drawing too much power to not allow the engines to start?

how old are batteries?

I would start by making sure the batteries are fully charged. Load test the batteries.

this is my thoughts too. Weak cell somewhere.

After how many hours of running the plotter?

after like 10h I would expect that.

if you mean 5 mins after unplugging then no.

thats why you should have seperate house and engine batteries.

Lots of info missing here.

What size batteries?

How old are the batteries?

Are you 100% sure all connections are good with no corrosion on terminals?

How long are you running the electronics with the engines off?

If you run the electronics long enough with engines off eventually they will draw down the batteries but with 3 fully serviceable marine batteries, that should take a while, as in multiple hours.

Making a guess with the limited information you’ve provided, my money says you’ve got either a bad battery(s), a battery connection issue or a charging problem.

Raymarine specs:
"Power Consumption (Max @ 12V DC) Chartplotter - 15.48 Watts | RV - 18.96 Watts
Note: Power consumption figures for DV variants were taken using a CPT-100DVS transducer and RV variants using an RV-100 transducer."

That's only about 1 1/2 amps.
Are you also running any VHF, stereo, radar, livewell pump, fridge, lights . It all adds up as battery discharging load , especially if the batteries are already weak with reduced capacity. What group size/CCA are they? Suggest you have them all load tested and conductance analyzed for free at most 12 battery stores ( auto parts.etc. . )
Do you have the black cable jumpers in place from battery negative to battery negative and battery negative, along with the battery negative connections to the engine blocks, so all the batteries will charge?

Are the starting batteries positives isolated from the house battery so the electronics, etc., don't deplete the starting batteries?

All connections at both ends of battery cables corrosion-free and tight?

Start motors before turning on the electronics. That’ll answer your question.

Default More info

Tested all three batteries all sat at 12.7-13V

batteries were 2 years old, I replaced them anyways.

last night I tried starting without anything on and they started up fine.

mall terminals are corrosion free.

I donít remember the specific battery specs but 600, 750, 150 rings a bell

iím talking about running the axiom blowers and maybe the stereo for 15 minutes. When I brought the boat down on Saturday I started up with shore power fine. I filled up with gas with the axiom and stereo on for maybe 20 minutes 30 tops and could not restart the motors after that off of just the batteries.

iím not good with electrical stuff so I have no idea how itís connected to each battery but I do know that I have a switch on my panel for that third battery to kick in if I need extra juice to start the motors and even that wonít help starting them
