Default eagle/lowrance part # gps antenna

I have a new eagle 2000C Df that came w/o a gps antenna. I can't find info on the antennas other than the lowrance part#112-231. Do I need the small cone that comes with the pkg. or just the pod and the wire # LCG 2000 that is less expensive. ;?

I talked to the techies at Eagle/Lowrance and they said that if you connect the LGC 2000 antenna to your unit, the Eagle unit will reboot as a lowrance. Strange huh?

Lowrance just told me a lowrance antenna has different connectors and the lcg 2000 wont work on the eagle also due to the eagle not being nema2000 he just said "they wont work " and got quiet.1-800-324-1354 tech line and be prepared to wait 5 or more minutes

Man I'm glad you called. The tech I talked to said they would work. She put me on hold for about 10 minutes while she talked to someone else. Scary to know that they can't even give a straight answer. At least it wasn't some guy in India....
I guess I'll put my antenna up on Craigslist then.

I bought the SeaCharter2000C DF that came with the GPS module. It came with the Eagle ECG-12W module.

Here is the manual.
http://www.eaglegps.com/Downloads/Ma...371_090602.pdf

It looks like it is the same module used on many other Eagle Combo units.

Sorry that I need to dredge up this thread again. I have an Eagle Fishstrike 2000C which needs an Eagle EGC-12W GPS module. I can get a Lowrance LGC-12W module for a very good price. I can't get a straight answer from Lowrance tech support as whether or not this will work. My gut tells me that they are the same except for branding. Does anyone know for sure or have any other input ??? Thanks.

I don't think it works unless the fishstrike is nema 2000 capable Read thru the previous posts migh give you some insight.

I don't think that will work. The Eagle uses a 4 pin connector and the lowrance uses a 5 pin connector. I think, don't quote me on that.

What did you mean by this ??? I am basically in the same boat that you were in Eagle vs Lowrance. My Fish Strike 2000C is basically the same unit as the Seachart 200C except for peak to peak and RMS voltage. Does an Eagle EGC12W and a Lowrance LGC12W have different connectors ??? What did you mean that you can make it work ??? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

you can use a handheld gps and connect it to the nmea i/o/ of the unit if you don't want to spend the money for an antenna. I set up my seachamp 2000 df that way, it works perfect! - JIM

Hi! Hope you don't mind a new member jumping in and giving advice but I just found this out today. I have a Lowrance 104-C with LGC -12W GPS receiver and recently got a Eagle Fishstrike 2000 w/EGC-12W. Both are NMEA 0183 standard. I had the same concerns. According to a Lowrance tech I spoke with today the two will work interchangeably to a point.
1. The Lowrance LGC-12W will work with either unit.
2. The Eagle EGC-12W should not be connected to a Lowrance unit if you would ever anticipate later using it on an Eagle unit. Connecting it to a Lowrance unit will permanently change the internal baud rate of the Eagle receiver/antenna. It may not function right when trying to change it back. He said the Lowrance receiver/antenna would automatically switch/adjust to whichever unit it was connected to.

I wish I knew if this was true for sure !! I hate spending money for nothing. I have my Garmin 72 connected to it, but I don't get to see the sat positions and other data on the status screen. Also, my Fishstrike 2000C thinks it is a 2D fix when the Garmin is having a good solid 3D fix. Other than that, the Garmin works fine for the map screen and navigation.

I have and they said that they aren't interchangeable and they won't work !! Kind of makes you wonder about the caliber of their tech support, doesn't it ???
