Default Navionics vs C-map

I' am in the process of purchasing Furuno Navnet VX 2 10.4 inch unit. I presently use Navionics in my Northstar unit and I have never used C-Map. I need to chose between the two different charting Furuno units and I don't want to make a mistake. Can I please ask for user opinions on the Navionics vs C-map. I no longer have my Northstar. I fish from inshore to the canyons. Thanks ;?

I prefer the cmap in my area. I think they both have areas of the world that they are better, so you need to choose based on your area.

Don't fret too much. You can switch your Navnet from Navionics to C-Map (or vice versa). Your dealer can do it for you in about 3 minutes. If you don't like what you have, just switch it. You'll have to buy another map card, but thats it. I have both for my navnet - Started with the navionics as I'd never used them before. Decided I prefer the c-map. I can go back if ever c-map's products aren't any good. That's the flexibility you get witht the Navnet VX2

wreckman, I am in the same (pardon me) boat.

I've been running C-Map NT+ in the last two boats and am satisfied but just want to make sure I am not missing anything new or special before I pull the trigger on the new boat I am presently outfitting.

I run out of Barnegat and Key Largo. Looking to put a couple THT buddy-boat offshore fishing trips together.

Both have lowered their prices on the super wide cards in the last few weeks. E mail tech support and aske for samples of the charts you use in your area. I have on chart plotter which uses Navionics (Lowarance with HD) and one with C map (Standard Horizon). I don't use a lot of the advanced features of the C map Max, but in the Bahamas, the C map uses the Lewis Explorer charts which are much better than the other chart data bases. For my local area the C map gets the edge. (Perdido Bay and offshore)

Wreckman, I run out of Barnegat Inlet and keep the boat in Barnegat.
