Default Dual frequency fish finders

My current fish finder, an old Eagle, fights with my boats digital depth sounder when both are on at the same time. Is a dual frequency fish finder the answer? I saw the new Garmin 400C at the AC show and loved its looks. From what the various reps were telling me, it sounds like as long as I keep the fish finder set at 50 Hz, my problems are solved. Most of my fishing is done in shallow (under 20 feet) salt water.

Your only supposed to use 50khz in deep water (>200'). That being said, you only need dual-frequency for DEEP water.

You need to get transducers that work on different frequencies - like 200kHz and 235 kHz. Most likely the best answer is that change the depth sounder transducer because they are more widely available in different frequency ranges than are fishfinder units.
