Default Comparing Lowrance lcx-20/25c and garmin 492/498c

Would appreciate anyone's input regarding these two units. I need a unit for my new 20' CC . Will be boating and fishing in the Piscataqua River (NH) and out to around 6-10 miles off. Cost seems about the same after you add the chip for Lowrance. Interested in knowing about functionality. Thanks all!!

From what I have seen you will get more information on the garmin maps but you will haver a better sonar on the lowrance.

I have the 492 and love the unit. Clear even in bright light. Easy to use. Useful maps. I looked at the Lowrance which has higher pixel count but went with Garmin who built their reputation on GPS devices. No regrets. The 340C fishfinder is another story...

Lowrance if the FF means more to you and Garmin if you are more concerned with the GPS...

The Lowrance has a much bigger screen, much higher pixel definition, the Nauticpath Chip gives you as much or more detail as the Garmin and it has a better depthfinder.

The Garmin is a little easier to use in the beginning because it has more buttons on the unit whereas the Lowrance is menu driven and takes a little more time to learn.

I have a Lcx 111c, LCX 25c and a LMS 332c for my boats and I really like the Lowrance ........ that said, a lot of the people I fished with like the Garmin.

I personally love the large screens and the higher definition ...... it is a pleasure to look at all the time and I can be fishing at the stern and still look at the console and see everything going on below. To me, the better presentation outwayed the slight learning curve.

Just my opinion.
