Default NAVMAN Fishfinder 4500

I'm considering the purchase of a new bottom machine and would like some feedback on the NAVMAN 4500. Any pros and cons would be great.

I took a chance on the 4600 last year. It performed better than I expected. It's easy to use. I could easily pick up thermo clines and larger fish within the bate fish. For the money you can't go wrong. What ever you do get a good transducer and be particular with the installation. I also hooked up the fuel flow sensors to it.

Thanks for the input. The transducer that came with the 4600 wasn't good enough? I think the one I'm looking at comes with the transducer

I had the dealer order the display only and then had them include a B744V thru hull from Airmar. Go to their web site, they make transducers for most the manufacturers. The reason why I did that was because I wanted a bronze thru hull with speed and temp. They also make a transom mount. Some previous posts have indicated some problems with Navmans earlier transducers but they seem to have corrected that.

The earlier problems were with the thru hulls. Navman now source these from Airmar.

just took out the plastic tranducer supplied by navman and replaced it with B60/20 airmar transducer.
The 4500 is now a great sounder.
With the navman transducer I thought the 4500 was the biggest peice of rubbish I had ever bought.
