Default Antenna height on 20' bay no t-top

Anyone running 8's on the console or do I get a good 4'? I don't go offshore, occasionally run around nearshore ( 5 mile and in).

I had a 3ft antenna on my console for the past year. I worked ok and talked to boats quite a distance away. I had a console cover that I wanted to continue to use so it needed to fold down. I couldn't go with a 4ft and still fold it. I am putting a t-top this spring and will be mounting an 8ft on top. I just don't want to be out of range if I have a problem.

I have an 8' on the console with a fold down and it works fine. I don't know what I'll do when I put a top on the boat...

Go with a 4' digital antenna and you will do fine.

I ran a 17' boat with an 8' antenna mounted to the console for years with no problems. It was located so it would lay down on the bench seat and tip alongside the engine. When underway I did have to occassionally warn guests not to use the antenna to stabilize themselves or as a hold-on point.
