Default Sitex ??

I have been looking at the Sitex color max 6" LCD GPS and the Sitex CVS 106L fishfinder. I like the idea of having seperate units to look at when navigating in ufamiliar and shallow waters. Also I can get both units for about the cost of the Furuno 1650 combo. I was hoping for some info on Sitex and opinions on these units or Sitex in general. Thanks - Matt Bennett

Relax, Shallowmind. There are not too many of us Si-tex converts on this board, but I am one. My boat came with a Si-Tex ProFish III, an inexpensive fishfinder, and after talking to the Si-tex people, became a devotee. I now have two Colormax Wides, one for my Grady and one for my Whaler, the ProFish III is in my Whaler, and I have a 106L in the Grady along with a Profish II 120 mhz as a backup. I think they're great and have great customer service. The Colormax Wide is a little bigger than the 6" and has the 16:9 scale, like my notebook computer and TV, which seemed a little odd at first, but now I like it a lot.

I don't have a plethora of experience with other units, but I have been on many other boats, including my bud's Raymarine C80 and I think the Si-tex is equal to or superior to it.

OK, thanks for the reply G8r. I ordered the units today that I mentioned above. I feel that I will be happy with them and will post accordingly.
