Default Now I'm pimpin...

With the powerbuy from BOE Marine, I scored a 10" Garmin chartplotter to supplement my existing 6". The 6" is a combo unit, so it is also my sonar. I had the 6" mounted on top of the console like a rookie, so I ripped everything out and flush-mounted both this weekend. This left some holes on top of the console which I filled with marine-tex and covered up with a nice starboard cup holder. It was scary cutting holes that big in the dash, but I measured 27 times and everything came out perfect. I also finally hooked up my DSC, which I couldn't get to work with the old Garmin. It's working now..and I have a nice place to keep my rum in the shade.

When you get some more cash take out the combo unit and replace with a fishfinder. Those smaller combo units are hard ro see.I guess that's why you went for the new unit.

Clean install. Looks great. Do you mind telling me where you got that cupholder. I've been looking for one exactly like that with no luck? Thanks

Birdsall Marine has a website where you can buy all kinds of cup holders, gaff holders, etc. and it is high quality stuff.

Hey bob, I got the cupholder at bass pro shops, but Boaters World has the same one.

http://www.boatersworld.com/product/166500785.htm

This one is a little different, it has a binocular holder in the middle, but they have the same one in their catalog.

I would like a bigger sonar, but that might have to wait until it "breaks" or the wife forgets about this purchase.

No Long Island Ice Tea, its Captains and Coke!!

Very nice installation - It paid to measure 27 times. Looks really great - very professional.

Actually, both units were installed a little crooked. Rookie job.

NNAAAAAHHH. Kidding. Looks great. Good Luck. The only problem with flushmounting is while sitting down in the rear of boat you will have to getup to look over the backreast to see the fish finder. My setup is exactly like yours with both units side by side. Nice clean looking setup.
