Axiom or Simrad
#1

Looking to upgrade this off season. I want a system that I can use a C-mor card on as we primarily wreck and bottom fish. My buddy has the Evo system and it works very well. I like the raymarine systems from previous boat but don't know much about the axiom line. Any thoughts?

Admittedly not the latest Axiom system, but I much prefer my current Simrad systems over my past Raymarine system. More value, better functionality, and better performance are some of the key reasons that I prefer the Simrad system.

I've been using an Axiom 9RV/ RV-100 combo for 3 years and 800 engine hours. It has been near perfect! The other Axiom variants weren't released at the time of my purchase.
Pages are very customizable including data boxes, split ratios, start page, chart selection.
Zoom in and out redraw is super fast.
Sonar and DownVision is very very good. I don't run 3D much , I think a bigger MFD is required to view the detail ( I'm in split screen 99% of the time).
Waypoints are easy to make in sonar or chart pages.
Not perfect because I'd rather the microSD slot was in front. Damp finger makes the Power button temperamental.
Simrad or Axiom is like Android or Apple. Once you learn the operating system they both are great.
My friends boat runs Simrad GO displays. Very good CHIRP displays. I think he runs his in a medium setting. His fish arches are more distinct than my Axiom's imo.

RVX (Pro) is a BIG step up from RV series. I run both in a network--could only fit either a 12" , or a 9 RVX (hybrid touch )and a 7RV ( all-touch) in my dash . 3D has been a bit of a bust, but the Sidescan/Downscan is brilliant. I run the RV-100 for that, and regular Sonar, as well as a B175M . 675 hours on it now. Rv series will only give you 600w, the RVX has 1kw baked in. As well as dual front card slots, and higher display resolution. Syetem is easy to understand and use.
