Default GARMIN 498C COMBO.

I've been looking for an inshore and nearshore reef GPS/FF and this seems to be the one. 80% of the time it'll be inshore with an occasional run to some Savannah area reefs. Is it overkill? Or is there another option?

Thanks.

It's not overkill. It's not a great unit for wreck searching. It is a good inshore unit where you have limited money and limited space.

You will be jumping thru a bunch of menu's.

A really nice setup for inshore would be a Garmin 492 and a Furuno 620. It would work well for wreck fishing too.
