Default Garmin 2010c screen goes blank

Occasionally while underway my gpsmap screen goes blank or rather it turns white then gradually fades to black. The only way to get it to function is to turn the unit on and off repeatedly. Each time I turn it on the screen will be white and gradually fades until eventually it will power up properly. It will then work fine for sometimes an hour or sometimes weeks. I've e-mailed garmin and am awaiting a response but was wondering if anyone here had any input. Thanks in advance Joe.

Do you have good wiring to your battery? A corroded power between the battery and unit can cause a voltage drop.

All connections are good and voltage drop is only about a tenth of a volt between battery and gps, the boat and all wires are only 11 months old. When I moved the unit from my old boat to my new boat I purchased a new wire harness. I received a reply from garmin 1-25-07 and it looks like its an internal issue and I will have to send to them for repair

i would agree that it is either a bad connection or low battery voltage.

or, the unit is broken (i know, big help!)

it doesn't sound good to me. but, as i'm sure the garmin folks will tell you, there is a flat rate repair cost for that unit. you ship them that one w/a check, and a week later you have another one that will be hard to tell from brand new in your hands.
